Inclusion Criteria
● Have used maternity services in the last five years
Rationale:
This criterion has been intentionally left broad to ensure inclusivity of participants who have experienced a range of maternity journeys, including baby loss, IVF, and live births.
● Is an influential female figure in the life of someone who has accessed maternity services in the last five years
Rationale:
○ This may include family members, religious leaders, or other influential women of any age.
○ Our previous research on health education choices has shown that many diverse women make healthcare decisions based on the influence of key figures within their communities. To effectively address mental health stigma and improve health literacy, it is essential to engage these influential individuals, as their role in shaping healthcare choices significantly impacts the perinatal experience.
○ The haPPIE™ SHE Cares Toolkit includes a dedicated section titled ‘Supporting a Loved One’, where family members and key influencers will play a vital role in providing support.
Exclusion of male participants
Rationale:
○ We have not extended the criteria to include males due to the sensitive nature of the discussions. Ensuring a safe and comfortable space for women to share their experiences is a key priority for this project.
This inclusion approach ensures that the study captures diverse perspectives while creating an environment that supports open and meaningful discussions.
