Black and ethnically minoritized women are more likely to experience perinatal mental health issues but are 40% less likely to receive treatment or support compared to white women.
Mental health during pregnancy and the postnatal period is just as critical as physical health—yet, Black women face significant barriers in accessing culturally competent perinatal mental health support.
But we can change this. Through community-led innovation, digital solutions, and healthcare transformation, we can create a future where Black women receive the perinatal mental health support they deserve.
This challenge is for healthcare professionals, mental health specialists, researchers, and community leaders ready to bridge the gap and create impactful, patient-centred solutions.
